Director & Clinical Psychologist & Sexologist
Hi, I believe therapy needs to be individually tailored to suit your personal needs because there is not a one-size-fits-all way in which we struggle. To help with this I practice from an integrative therapeutic approach, drawing from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Schema, Internal Family Systems, Mindfulness and Attachment theories. Hilary is also completing her training in Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR).
I understand it can be daunting to see a psychologist for the first time, so for those new to therapy I like to discuss the process openly so you understand the different phases of therapy. I ensure we move at a pace that is comfortable for you, whilst also recognising a part of therapy is making note of thoughts/behaviours that might not be helping you.
I have experience working with individuals across the lifespan, however currently I work with adults and provide short and/or longer-term psychological therapy for:
Hilary's Doctorate of Clinical Psychology thesis designed a psychological treatment for vaginismus and evaluated the effectiveness of the therapy. Following on from her thesis, Hilary developed a particular interest in improving sexual function and satisfaction for individuals (either in a relationship/s or single), who experience pain with sex due to vaginismus (GPPPD), endometriosis or chronic pelvic pain.
Regardless of why you are coming to see Hilary, she takes a warm, compassionate and non-judgemental approach to therapy with the aim to empower your strengths to help reach your goals and develop a greater understanding about yourself.
