Alana Batch

Hi, I’m Alana (she/her)

I have had the privilege of working with people from a wide range of backgrounds across both hospital and private practice settings. These experiences have shaped my approach as a psychologist, reinforcing the importance of meeting each person where they are in their journey and working at a pace that feels right for them.

I understand that reaching out for support can feel challenging, and I strive to create a therapeutic space that is welcoming, safe, and free from judgement. Authenticity, compassion, and honesty are at the heart of my practice, and I am committed to helping clients feel understood, validated, and empowered as they navigate life's challenges and work towards meaningful goals.

I believe that every person has inherent strengths, resilience, and the capacity for growth. Taking a strengths-based perspective, I seek to understand each individual's unique experiences and the factors that have shaped them. From this foundation, I draw on a range of evidence-based therapeutic approaches to provide support that is tailored to each person's needs and goals. The frameworks I most commonly utilise include Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT), while integrating other approaches where beneficial to support wellbeing and personal growth.

Creating a safe, inclusive, and affirming space for all people is deeply important to me. I am particularly passionate about supporting neurodivergent individuals and those whose experiences may fall outside of societal expectations, including, but not limited to, Autistic people, ADHDers, and individuals experiencing schizophrenia or personality disorders. I am also committed to providing an affirming space for people of diverse sexualities, genders, relationship structures, and romantic or sexual experiences. I welcome individuals from LGBTQIA+ communities, as well as those exploring aspects of their identity, relationships, intimacy, or sexual wellbeing. My aim is to create a space where people feel safe to share their experiences openly, free from judgement, and with confidence that they will be met with respect, understanding, and genuine curiosity.

Regardless of the reason you have sought support, my hope is to foster a collaborative therapeutic relationship where you feel safe to express yourself authentically. Together, we can work towards greater self-understanding, acceptance, meaningful change, and the fulfilment of your personal aspirations.
