21/4/2026

Psychologist | Clinical Psychology Registrar | Mental Health Social Worker

The Centre for Relational and Sexual Wellbeing (Centre RSW) is a private psychology and counseling practice that provides therapy for a range of presenting concerns, with a particular focus on relational and sexual function. We have a strong, consistent, and varied referral base. We are one of the few relational and sex therapy practices in Queensland.

Centre RSW is welcoming and inclusive to all gender, sexual, and relational diversity.

About the opportunity

We are looking for a psychologist or mental health social worker (i.e., able to claim Medicare rebates) to join our team in a part-time capacity (0.4 – 0.6 FTE by negotiation). Employment and contractor positions available.

This is a unique opportunity for someone who has a special interest in developing their clinical skills in the area of relationships (couples therapy, diverse relationships, and relational/attachment issues) and sex/sexual function (sexuality, sexual difficulties).

Although experience in sex therapy or relational therapy is highly regarded, we welcome applications from psychologists/mental health social workers with a genuine interest in this area and a willingness to undertake additional learning to build their skills. As part of the role, we are able to provide supervision and some training to support your understanding and clinical skills in the assessment and treatment of relational and sexual difficulties.

We also receive referrals for general mental health, health conditions, trauma and personality disorders, as such we are able to adjust your caseload with a broad range of clinical presentations.

The role/s

Employee Position: An employed role includes a combination of clinical work and broader service development. This can involves:

  • Providing face-to-face therapy to individuals and/or couples
  • Collaborating with the directors to design and deliver practice offerings, such as online programs, workshops, and professional training
  • Contributing to the ongoing development of the practice and community engagement

This role may suit someone interested in diversifying their work beyond one-to-one therapy and contributing to program development and innovation within a growing practice.

Contractor Position: A contractor role is primarily focused on clinical service delivery and includes:

  • Providing face-to-face therapy to individuals and/or couples
  • Managing your own caseload (treatment, reporting etc) with professional, administrative and referral support from the practice

This option may suit clinicians seeking more flexibility and to supplement an employed position elsewhere.

Both roles offer the opportunity to build and maintain a sustainable caseload. We provide support with referrals, intake processes, and practice systems to assist with this. A “full caseload” will vary depending on whether the role is part-time or full-time, and this can be discussed based on individual preferences and capacity.

What support you can expect from us

  • Focused training in the assessment, formulation, and treatment of relational and sexual difficulties.
  • Supervision for the purpose of continuing professional development as well as building your therapeutic skills. Frequency and type of supervision can be discussed on an individual need/s and the practice holds monthly peer supervision.
    • We are also able to provide supervision for those undertaking their clinical registrar program.
  • Quarterly professional development events.
  • A friendly and supportive team to work alongside.
  • Full admin support

What we are looking for

  • Experience in the area of relational and sex therapy
    • Essential: to have a professional interest in this area
  • Full registration with AHPRA as a Registered Psychologist or Accredited Mental Health Social worker
  • Eligibility to register as a Medicare provider
  • Able to work 2 - 3 days per week. We will consider those available minimum 2 days per week.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Exceptional communication skills and ability to build and maintain relationships with referrers and clients
  • We have a preference towards those interested in an employee role.
